“It’s only twenty seats, how hard could it be?”
“How do you get such wonderful flavours in such a small kitchen?”
“Mapo Tofu? Never heard of it. Can we all get an order?”

The Marans opened it’s doors in 2019 at 222 Main St. It is owned by Chef Guerin Sykes and Jessica Sykes. At only 20 seats and 650 sq ft, it was a BIG restaurant tucked into a tiny space. It did not take long to realize that The Marans was going to outgrow the cozy space next to the Regent Theatre. In January of 2021, The Marans began construction on a larger space, just up the road, at 165 Main St. On July 1st, 2021, The Marans opened it’s doors once again, in it’s new home. It is a restaurant that serves Internationally inspired dishes, prepared with local flare, using fresh local ingredients.

Surrounding the town of Picton lie the many vistas of Prince Edward County; scattered with farmers fields, breweries and wineries, all contained within the shores of Lake Ontario. The farmers have a connection with the vegetables they grow and the animals they raise and they all have a desire to share their experience and products with good people.

The Marans concept could not be complete without all the local suppliers that fill the County; farmers, potters, carpenters, wineries and breweries. You will find a little piece of each one when you visit The Marans.

The Marans dining room has soaring ceilings with large windows to let the light pour in. Chandeliers hang from the original shiplap ceiling. After a recent renovation, The Marans has a fully open dining room featuring County art and eclectic decor.

We strongly recommend making reservations to ensure availability. We also pride ourselves on being accommodating to any dietary restrictions and allergies, so please let us know at time of booking any special requirements you may need. Finally, The Marans is an accessible restaurant for those with mobility issues; single level dining, wide spaces, wheelchair friendly tables and a fully automated washroom.
